What are the dos and don’ts after a tooth extraction?

Dos:
Always carry on your prescribed painkillers or you can bite down on the gauze pad given by your dentist for a few minutes until the bleeding stops. Try to talk, eat and drink less
and when eating make sure it requires less chewing (Mashed potatoes, pasta..)
Avoid the extracted site while brushing for almost 12 hours post-extraction. And in case of any abnormality do call your doctor.
Don’ts:
Don’t drink through a straw because sucking may loosen blood clots that help your mouth heal and always avoid hard, crunchy and sticky food, and most importantly you should avoid smoking as it slows your healing process.
How long will the pain last after a tooth extraction?
The bleeding usually takes around 24 hours to cut, however the area could take up to two weeks to fully recover, meanwhile gums and new bones will take place. Concerning the pain, in most cases would see the pain reduced after the third day, however a wisdom tooth extraction may see the pain linger longer.
